Social media
marketing is a labrinth – if you do not know what you are doing. Here’s ten things you might not know about the social media at the moment:
There are over 500 million active users on Facebook. That’s the entire population of Ireland x 125 on the same website every single day.
- The largest growing section of the population on Facebook is the 50 – 75 age group.
- Social networking reviews are becoming the new word of mouth. A review from a user is considered to be far more trust worthy than a description coming from a business.
- You can buy up to 25,000 Facebook likes for your business from companies all over the world. (Although, Digital Marketing don’t recommend it.)
- Twitter is sometimes called “pulse of the world” as by following whats trending through its 100 Million active users – we can get a snap shot of what the world is talking about.
- Google + just launched its own version of pages for business. How effective Google + will be is yet to be seen but with more features being added everyday, and Google’s continued dominance of search and email, it should be an interesting tussle between the two web giants.
- YouTube is the worlds second largest search engine.
- On flickr, the world largest photo sharing site – the iPhone is the second most commonly used camera.
- Scribd (www.scribd.com) is the world’s largest social reading and publishing company. It has over 50 million active users.
- In 2011 Google adwords accounted for 97% of the company’s total revenue – coming in at a miserly $32.2 billion.
